It was a very exciting day for us yesterday when the Stylecraft Special Candy Swirl arrived. Seriously, we placed an order for this two months ago, and have been looking forward to getting our hands on it ever since.

Without further ado, let's give you a look at it.

Stylecraft Special Candy Swirl DK comes in a range of bright colours, including a few you wouldn't expect, like the purple and green in Apple Sours. They all have names inspired by sweet treats, and Fruit Salad especially reminds us exactly of the sweets from our childhood!

As you would expect from Stylecraft this yarn is soft and squashy, just like the regular Stylecraft Special DK is. It's a double knit yarn, so is extremely versatile. There are seven patterns released specifically for this yarn, but Stylecraft yarns usually knit or crochet well to other patterns too.

At £6.75 for 150 grams this yarn is great value, most of the patterns require just one or two cakes to complete. I'm expecting two of these to complete a baby blanket, but we'll keep you posted on that.

After we got over our excitement yesterday Rosie and I immediately wanted to start projects with it. Rosie chose Strawberry Taffy and I chose Coconut Ice. We both settled on blankets, Rosie chose a square blanket and I decided on a bobble stitch blanket I've been playing around with in my head for some time.

An hour or two in and we're both really enjoying the colours and the yarn, although Rosie is a little frustrated with where some of her colour changes have appeared! The colour changes on this yarn are quite sudden, but the repeat is very long. If that's not your style you'll probably dislike this yarn. Here's where we're up to so far, keep an eye on our Facebook page for further updates.
