Woolfull Magazine Issue 14 - 14 October 2017 - All treats, no tricks! Free halloween patterns

It's that time of year again when things go bump in the night, and when mysterious and spooky looking beings wander the neighbourhood on the hunt for treats. I'm obviously referring to the long-held tradition of Halloween. There are several theories as to the origin of this annual event, possibly from a former Pagan festival called Samhain, or from an old Christian holiday, or even from an ancient Celtic harvest festival. Whatever it's origin Halloween has fast become one our most popular yearly events filled with elaborate costumes, trick or treating and ghoulish party games.

So, as this is Woolfull's first Halloween we decided to create a couple of little treats for you all.

Up until now we've only designed crochet patterns to share with you, but we can now proudly present our first knitting pattern. This is also Debbie's mum Margaret's first knitting pattern written exclusively for us.

The yarn we chose for both projects is the ever popular and versatile Stylecraft Special DK.

PUMPKIN TRICK OR TREAT BAG (CROCHET)

Mand's crochet project is a fun pumpkin trick or treat bag measuring 9.5" across and made in vibrant bright orange with black features and useful carry handle. This is a straightforward piece using only US sc (UK dc) and US dc (UK tr).

You can get the pattern for free here.

SUKI THE SMILEY WITCH (KNITTING)

Margaret's knitting project is a not-so-scary witch standing approximately 13.5" tall and made using black, orange, green and purple. The only stitches you need to do here are knit and purl, with the addition of grafting using 3 needles at one point.

You can get the pattern for free here.

We hope you enjoy these patterns, and please let us know on Facebook or Instagram how you get on.
